Your ledger
Yudao does not require a Yudao account, connect to a bank, or include advertising or analytics tracking. Amounts, dates, categories, notes, feelings, budgets, wishes, savings entries, recurring rules, and preferences are saved in the app’s storage on your device first. Yudao uses them to provide records, calculations, charts, and wish progress. The app does not send your ledger to a developer-operated business or analytics server.
Device storage and backups
The local ledger uses system file protection and keeps a previous-save copy. When a sync merge will change the local ledger, the app saves a local backup before replacing it. You can export a full JSON backup or a CSV file. These contain private financial information and are handled by the locations, recipients, and services you choose. App data may also be retained in device backups configured in system settings. Protect your device and exported files.
Optional iCloud sync
If you have active Premium access and choose to enable iCloud sync, ledger content is sent to the private CloudKit database of your signed-in Apple Account to merge records across your own devices. The first connection or an account change presents a preview for you to confirm. The sync document includes entries, settings, and version information needed to resolve edits and deletions. Some historical versions and deletion records remain to prevent old devices from restoring deleted entries. Turning sync off does not remove local records or automatically delete uploaded data. Apple services are also subject to Apple’s privacy policy.
Purchases
Apple’s App Store processes monthly and yearly subscriptions and lifetime purchases. Yudao uses StoreKit transaction and entitlement information, including product, validity, expiration and revocation status, to unlock features, restore purchases, and refresh widget access. Yudao does not receive your payment card number or Apple Account password. There is no third-party subscription analytics SDK or developer-operated purchase server.
Home Screen widgets
To display widgets, the app writes a snapshot of amounts, recent expenses, categories, wish progress, preferences, and access status to a shared App Group container on your device. The widget extension reads this local snapshot; it is not sent to a developer server. Widgets can show financial information on the Home Screen. The Hide amounts option masks amounts, but does not hide wish names or categories. Remove widgets if you do not want this information visible.
When you contact support
If you email support, the operator receives the email address, message, and attachments you provide and uses them only to respond, investigate, and resolve your request. Remove unrelated personal information from screenshots and ledgers. Support correspondence is deleted when it is no longer needed to resolve the issue, except where retention is legally required. You may use the contact address above to request access, correction, or deletion of support correspondence.
Access, changes, deletion, and stopping sync
You can view, edit, or delete entries in the app and export your ledger. Old versions may remain in backups and sync-conflict history after an entry is deleted; deleting an entry does not erase every copy. Deleting the app removes that installation’s local app data but does not automatically remove exports, system backups, or uploaded iCloud data. The current app has no button to erase every cloud copy. Before clearing cloud data, make a backup, stop sync on all devices, and consult Apple’s iCloud data-management options. Available deletion controls vary by system version; follow the options shown on your device. If no relevant control is available, contact the developer for help. Signing out or switching sync off is not cloud deletion. The developer cannot access or delete ledger data in your Apple Account’s private database on your behalf.
Third-party services and this website
The app uses Apple’s App Store, StoreKit, and optional CloudKit services. This website is hosted by GitHub Pages. Its pages embed no ads, analytics scripts, external fonts, or developer-set cookies. GitHub may process IP addresses, browser/device information, access times, and service logs to deliver and protect the site. GitHub describes its handling and retention in its Privacy Statement. The developer does not maintain a separate visitor-analytics or server-log database. Support emails are also processed by your chosen email provider and the recipient email service.
Public issue reports
You may also use GitHub Issues for general feedback. This channel publicly displays your GitHub account, issue text, and attachments. Do not post ledgers, detailed amounts, or other personal information. Use email for privacy requests. You can edit or delete your own posts or contact the developer for help; GitHub manages its service logs, backups, and legal retention.
Updates and contact
The operator will update this policy and its effective date when features or data practices change. For questions about personal information, use the contact email at the top of this page.
