How do I start?
Import audio from Files, record with the microphone, or import a video to extract its audio. In version 1.0.1 and later, the video action opens the system Photos picker, with a From Files option. Only the videos you select are shared with the app. The included Bach sample lets you explore the tools before using your own files.
What can I edit?
Zoom and select a range, keep or delete that range, split or duplicate clips, and merge clips in order. Version 1.0.1 adds a workspace that adapts to screen width, multitrack arrangement and mixing, and controls for speed and pitch. Add Track imports audio or video sound onto a new track, or moves the selected clip. Volume, peak normalization and fades help finish the sound. Use undo if you want to step back.
Which formats can I export?
Version 1.0.1 and later export MP3, M4A and WAV, with sample-rate and mono/stereo settings, bitrate for MP3/M4A, and bit depth for WAV. Version 1.0.0 exports M4A and WAV. Save or share the result through the iOS share sheet. Supported imports depend on the media formats iOS can read. Ringtone clips can be trimmed and exported as audio; WaveWhale does not export M4R or install system ringtones. Set a ringtone outside the app using the system or another tool.
How does the free experience work?
You can fully edit one personal project at a time without a time limit, including one successful export. Cancelling or failing an export does not use the allowance. Before a successful export, deleting the project lets you start again. After that export, deleting or resetting projects does not restore the allowance. The built-in sample remains free.
Subscriptions, trial and lifetime access
Monthly, yearly and lifetime access unlock the same tools and remove project and export limits while access is valid. A 7-day subscription trial is offered only when Apple confirms eligibility and you confirm the subscription. It automatically renews at the price Apple displays unless cancelled. This is separate from the one-free-export experience, which needs no subscription and never renews. Lifetime access is a separate one-time purchase. Buying it does not cancel an existing subscription; manage that separately with Apple.
Restore, cancel or request a refund
Use Restore Purchases in the app with the Apple Account used for the purchase. Manage or cancel subscriptions in iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions. To avoid renewal, cancel at least 24 hours before the current period or trial ends. Apple handles refund requests through Report a Problem. Access follows Apple’s verified purchase status.
Recording or playback trouble?
Check microphone permission in iOS Settings, available device storage and the current audio output. Stop other apps using the microphone and try again. Keep the app open while a recording or export is running. Save important files separately before troubleshooting.
Open-source software and library replacement
WaveWhale 1.0.1 uses the LAME encoder for MP3 export. Read the license notices, download the exact library source and build integration, and request the free personal library-replacement materials on the open-source software page. To request the free corresponding replacement kit, open a support issue on GitHub stating your app version and build and asking for the LAME replacement materials. No proof of purchase is needed. GitHub Issues are public; do not post private media, payment details or signing credentials. The WaveWhale application source is not published.
