What this policy covers
This policy explains how the WaveWhale app for iPhone and iPad and this developer website handle information. WaveWhale is maintained through the fzelinda GitHub account. You can contact the maintainer using the support link below.
Your recordings and files
WaveWhale processes audio and video on your device. Audio files you choose to import are copied into the app’s local storage for editing. Starting with version 1.0.1, video import can use the system Photos picker, which shares only videos you select; WaveWhale does not request access to your entire photo library. The Files picker remains available. Selected videos are temporarily copied to extract their audio; temporary video copies are removed after processing or cancellation. Microphone access is requested only for recording; you can change it in iOS Settings. We do not operate a media upload server, receive your recordings or use them to train AI models. Selecting media stored in iCloud Photos or another cloud provider may involve that provider downloading it to your device.
Local storage and deletion
Projects, audio files, edits and exported files are stored in the app’s local library. Deleting a project removes that project and source media no longer referenced by another project; previously exported copies may remain. Deleting the app removes its local library. Copies you saved or shared elsewhere and device backups are managed separately by you, iOS or the relevant service. WaveWhale does not provide its own cloud sync or backup. Keep a separate copy of important work.
Starting with version 1.0.1, the app also stores the page and completion stage of its introductory screens in app-local preferences. This is used only to resume or avoid repeating the introduction, is not sent to us, and does not change your purchase status or free-export allowance. Deleting the app removes these preferences; the separate Keychain allowance record is described below.
The free export allowance
The app stores its free-experience state, including a project identifier where applicable, in the device’s Keychain. This local record prevents deleting a project from resetting a used free export. It is not sent to us, does not sync through WaveWhale and may remain after the app is removed.
Purchases and Apple
Apple processes subscriptions, introductory trials, lifetime purchases and payment details. WaveWhale uses Apple-verified transaction information, such as the product, validity period and revocation status, to determine access on your device. We do not receive your card details. Apple also handles its own App Store and payment records under Apple’s Privacy Policy.
This website and support
This website is hosted on GitHub Pages. We add no analytics scripts, advertising trackers or cookies. GitHub processes technical request information, including IP addresses, to deliver and protect its services under the GitHub Privacy Statement. If you choose to contact us through GitHub Issues, your GitHub profile and message are public. The maintainer uses the information you provide to respond and resolve the request. Do not post sensitive information. GitHub controls platform retention and account features; support discussions may remain available until removed by you, a maintainer or GitHub, as the platform permits.
Data controls and contact
You can manage microphone permission and device backups in iOS Settings, manage purchases with Apple, and remove local app data as described above. We have no developer-held account or media database to search or delete. For questions about information you voluntarily shared in support, use our support page. We do not intentionally request personal information from children. Updates to these practices will be reflected here with a revised date.
GitHub Issues are public and require a GitHub account. Please do not attach private recordings, payment details or other sensitive information.
