ShrinkCat compresses videos, compares quality and verifies saved copies on your device. We do not receive or upload your videos, and the app contains no advertising, behavioral analytics or third-party tracking SDKs.
Data processed on your device
To carry out your selected tasks, the app processes video content, thumbnails, filenames, file sizes, duration, encoding settings, task history and preferences locally. Imported files and processed copies are stored in the app’s storage. Free-use counters and verified Pro access are also kept locally. We do not operate a developer server that receives this data. System backups are controlled by your device and Apple backup settings.
Photos access and iCloud
Photos access lets you browse and select originals, save new copies and read saved copies for verification. You can limit or revoke access in iOS Settings. If an original is only in iCloud, the app downloads it through Apple Photos after you allow it; this requires a network connection. This does not upload the video to us.
Saving, replacement and deletion
Compression does not delete originals. Only after a new copy is saved and verified, and you explicitly confirm replacement, does the app request deletion of the corresponding original through the system. In Settings, you can clear unused imports or caches for saved tasks; those cleanup actions do not delete unsaved results. Uninstalling removes the app’s local data. Videos saved to your photo library remain managed by Photos, including its deletion and recovery rules.
Purchases and Apple services
Apple processes payments. Through StoreKit, the app reads localized product prices, verified transactions, transaction identifiers and current entitlements to provide Pro, restore purchases and update subscription access. We do not receive your payment-card details or full billing information. Apple may process data needed for Photos, the App Store, purchases, diagnostics and backups, depending on your settings. See Apple’s Privacy Policy. Manage subscriptions in your Apple Account; deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
When you contact us
If you email us, we receive your email address, message and any information you voluntarily include. We use it to reply, troubleshoot or handle privacy requests. Please do not send unnecessary private videos or sensitive payment information. Support correspondence is retained only as long as needed to resolve the request or meet applicable obligations; you may request deletion. Email providers may process this information to deliver and store messages.
This website and external links
This product website is hosted on GitHub Pages. It sets no analytics or advertising cookies of its own and loads no third-party analytics scripts. GitHub may log visitor IP addresses and request information to operate and secure hosting. See the GitHub General Privacy Statement. Apple, GitHub and email links lead to services governed by their respective policies.
Your choices and policy changes
You can revoke Photos access, clear local caches, uninstall the app, manage Apple subscriptions, or contact us with applicable access, correction and deletion requests. As we do not hold your videos, we cannot access or delete your device library for you. If data practices change, we will update the effective date here and provide in-app notice or request consent when needed.
